We headed to Ohio to visit my Dad and Karen on April 9th. The picture above is near Paw Paw, IL. I looked this up on-line and it is a Wind Farm. They have 63 windmills. It's kind of cool. It was a gloomy day so the pictures aren't very good. We had a really nice drive to and from Ohio. We did it in 2 days staying at a hotel each way. Carly and Alex were awesome travelers. I am so proud of them! Here is a picture of our entrance into Ohio.
I was lucky enough to spend the day at the Minneapolis Convention Center for a Stampin' Up! Regional. OMGoodness!! We were there from about 8 - 4 but I swear it was about 10 minutes. Here we are pictured above: Judith, Me, Reggie, Gretchen and Charlie. I had such a fabulous day. Not only did we get lunch (That I didn't have to prepare or help anyone eat OR clean up after. Well not really. I did have to throw my trash away.) but we each got a stamp set AND oodles of inspiration. Check back in the next couple of days and I will post pictures of the fun things we made (We got to make 6 projects.). Now we have a sitter and we are off to The Outpost in Ramsey to see Double Shot play. What fun! Thanks Gretchen for driving.
We had an unexpected play date with Evan and Mara yesterday. We haven't been able to see them much so it was great fun to have them and Kathy over to play and chat. Kathy also brought Aunee (Not sure how her name is spelled so I spelled it how it sounds.). Aunee is Nolan's (Carly's friend from school) service dog. She is 18 months old and incredibly well trained. She is a fabulous girl with terrific manners. The best thing is that Nolan is in love with her. I think she is going to be sooooo good for him.
Carly had a great birthday celebration. Friends and relatives turned out in droves to have cake and icecream with us. We had a very nice time. Carly's absolute fave gift was a rainstick (you can see it in the picture below) that her Gma gave her. Thanks for the wonderful gifts and for celebrating with us.
Today my sweet girl is 8. Yep, 8. Not sure when or how that happened but it's true. Alex and I went and had lunch with her today. It was soooo much fun. I always LOVE to have lunch with her. It's so much fun to see her friends and I always enjoy the chance to get to know the paras that work with Carly a little better. I had the chance to see her in action. She is quite independent at school. She was washing her hands and with very little prompting (mostly just verbal prompts at this point) she got paper towels out of the dispenser, dried her hands and threw away the paper towel. After that, she went to her locker (Her para (for lunch) Pam opened the locker. That's still tricky for her.), got her lunch out and proceeded down the hall to the lunchroom. Then I found out that all year she has been drinking her milk out of the carton without a straw. It was a big day. We had macaroni and cheese, kielbasa, green beans and bananas for supper with cupcakes for dessert. Gotta go help the birthday girl get into her jammies. Sweet dreams.
